App Store Product Page Banner Image (21:9 and 16:9 PNG)
The app store product page banner is the header image Apple shows at the top of iOS 27 product pages. Use 3840 × 1646 at 21:9 as JPEG or PNG, or 5244 × 2950 at 16:9 as PNG only, with no transparency and no metadata. Our free home page tool exports both sizes in your browser.

Yes. Many people search for a banner, but in App Store Connect the placement is called the product page header, found under Product Page Information, then Header and Search Results. The header can be a still image or a video; this page covers the image. Source: aso.dev, App Store Connect placements.
Which image sizes and formats work?
There are two accepted image shapes, and neither may contain an alpha channel or any transparent pixels. Source: Apple App Store Connect Help, Creative assets specifications.
- 21:9 at exactly 3840 × 1646, saved as .jpeg, .jpg or .png.
- 16:9 at exactly 5244 × 2950, saved as .png only.
How do I make a banner image that passes?
Most rejected images have the right look but the wrong file details. Run through these steps before uploading, or let image mode on our home page do them for you.
- Design at the final size, or scale to exactly 3840 × 1646 or 5244 × 2950. Do not trust a multiplier: 1536 × 658 at 2.5× gives 3840 × 1645.
- Flatten any transparency onto a solid background so the file has no alpha channel.
- Strip metadata. A PNG with an eXIf chunk was rejected even at the correct size.
- Save as PNG (required for 16:9) or JPEG (21:9 only), then preview it by device, orientation and dark mode in App Store Connect.
What should the banner image show?
Think of the banner as the first frame of your product page on iOS 27 and iPadOS 27 or later. It does not replace your screenshots or App Preview, which still follow below it, so it does not need to list features. One clear idea works best: the app's main screen, a strong visual from your brand, or the outcome a user gets. Text should be short and large enough to read on a phone, and Apple's advice is to avoid URLs and promises the app cannot keep.
You can set a different banner for each localization, and because creative assets go through review as a standalone submission, changing the banner later does not require a new build. Source: adapty.io, App Store Asset Library (Oct 6, 2026).
Should I use one 16:9 PNG for header and search?
It saves work. With “Use header asset in search results”, a single 16:9 PNG at 5244 × 2950 fills both the header and the 3:2 search card, and it is the only size that can. Because the two placements crop differently, keep your subject and any text in the centre. The content rules of guideline 2.3.14 apply as well: 4+ suitable, no prices or discounts, no misleading references to other apps. Source: adapty.io, App Store Asset Library (Oct 6, 2026). Frequently asked questions
Can the banner have a transparent background?
No. Header images must not contain alpha or transparency; flatten them onto a solid colour.
Why was my banner PNG rejected at the correct size?
Embedded metadata is a known cause: a PNG with an eXIf chunk was refused until the metadata was stripped.
